SunNightSolar - BoGo light for Zahana
SunNight Solar has since come up with a second model, the SL2, that is slightly different, than the first. It uses NiMH batteries instead of the old NiCa (that contain Cadmium) and has separate compartments for the batteries. It consequently costs more. (To learn about the price increase please consult the BoGo website.) THE FASTEST WAY to order your SL2, improved solar flashlight light, with 3 removable NiMH AA batteries for US$59: To order your personal SL2 solar flashlight light for US$39 for yourself only (without giving one away). See their website please.(Please note that this means you are not buying a flashlight for Zahana, but you are still getting a great flashlight) Note: If you surf around SunNight Solar's website you have to make sure you re-designate Zahana under their “choose where to give” link or you are NOT buying automatically a second light for Zahana. There is no way for us to get it retroactively if you do not designate it before you check out, so please use the link above to order. Too much of a hassle? There is always the option to just donate directly to zahana: Please click here
You may also click on the picture below, which takes you to the SunNight Solar web site. You may of course also explore and choose any other worthy cause for your second flashlight among the BoGo partners, but we hope you designate Zahana. When Jeannette and Markus visited Madagascar and Fiadanana in October 2007 we took a BoGo flashlight we had bought for Zahana along. We wanted to field test it under real time conditions. It was the hit, especially with children, but also came in handy in the capital where there are often power blackouts in the evening around dinnertime. We hope that introducing solar flashlights will provide villagers with easily renewable light at night. It is our hope that this will be the first step of introducing more solar powered option in Fiadanana.
